Factory delays

Mike's the man!

Mike is the man!! He has the Quattrovalvole 308, not just the normal 308......

one day, one day when I can stop buying McIntosh, I will get my Ferrari.....1974 365GTB/4 BB (Belrinetta Boxer).....Yeah good thanks.....:thmbsp:

This is me sitting in my Dads friends Ferrari Boxer, when I was 18 yrs old, wow that was long time ago, some things you never forget like screaming around in this thing at 8am on a Sunday morning when there was no traffic......Wooooo.....I can remember it like it was yesterday...

Think the RR analogy might be the more appropriate between the marques listed. But, as McIntosh is 'made in the USA', think Cadillac might be the best. Often outperforms the likes of MB/BMW/etc., but gets ranked lower as is not made in Europe. A recent Corvette-Porsche comparison is a glaring example. The Corvette won every performance category in the test at Laguna Seca and got rated lower.

Used to go for a 'Sunday morning drive' on the back roads of upstate PA in my bright-yellow 1973 911E with a a fellow who had a bright-yellow Dino 246 GTS. Similar performance and great time chasing each other around. Even managed to spin off on a blind off-camber corner and through the local farmers fence one day. Some scratches, but no mechanical damage to anything but the fence. The farmer would not take any money to repair. Said I was the first person who ever stopped and offered to take care of the damages in the several times it had been knocked down over the years.

Kevin, that Boxer is beautiful, one of my favorite but just couldn't afford it. It would be great if you can get a QV as it is the most reliable 308. Sometimes after a long ride or a rally in my 308, as soon as I get home I warm up my Mac gear then put on some nice soothing Jazz music, fired the Mac gears and laid back and relax. Both my Ferrari and my Macs really puts a smile on my face. By the way, the 1974 365 GTB is one heck of a car.

Yeah, I just loved that car and being able to go "hooning" in it with the owner, he doesnt have it any more but it is still around and owned by another Ferrari Lover.....
On that day we went along this road (among others) which on Sunday was deserted as it was about 8am, but on business days its a busy shopping center, built up, shops lined either side of the road....
We wound the windows down, and gave it full power along this particular stretch of road......THE SOUND OF THAT ENGINE!!! it reverberated around this area, and seriously I thought I was in heaven, it is the best sounding engine I have ever heard, you are already sitting inches in front of the engine, and with the windows down, the induction noise,......WOAH!! The reverberation of that flat 12 screaming at 8,000rpm (redline 7700, oops) I have a picture somewhere of the instrument panel during that....

Yes the QV 308 is the way to go, which is what a lot of Ferrari guys say, if you want reliability and minimal and more cost effective servicing, those 12cyl monsters cost enormous amounts of money to keep running....
In about 5 years, I will be ready for the 308, or maybe a 328....we will see.....

Sorry for going off topic, I did get carried away, but it does go some way to explain the parallel between Ferrari and McIntosh, well thats my excuse anyway.....:D

Sounds like the perfect day, going for a cruise in the Ferrari, then home to relax and listen to the McIntosh system......nice!!

Hah. Always funny watching threads go off the rails.

My MC302 was received by my local shop on Monday (September 9th). Just unboxed it today.

Oh yeah, sorry about that......So do you have the amp, or has it yet to be delivered?

Yes, I have the amp now. This MC302 replaced a MC7100, so I've made quite a jump. Sounds fantastic so far.

Upstream from the Mac is my Moon 350P preamp. The other side is a pair of Vienna Acoustics Mozart SE speakers.

Sounds like you are about to embark on a serious listening session....you have to watch out with the McIntosh gear, it lures you in and you can lose days inside the music......:music:

That is great you have your amp now. I would like to compare a modern amp to the amps I have and hopefully hear for myself the difference. All the best to you with your new purchase.
