Fair price for a mint but un-restored McIntosh MC-2105??

Hello guys,

This Mc ad has been up by me for a while now, but I never really paid it much attention because it didn't seem like a steal. The seller added a couple of photos, and the unit really does seem mint; can't even see any bubbling around the headphone jack, which I know is very common with these. Slant-leg case looks in good shape too. I reached out to him, but he seems very firm on the price of $1100, even though he admitted he has never had it restored or looked at. Says it's never needed it, as all controls are still silent and lights all work. What would you think is a fair value for this amp in this good shape? I feel $1100 is still a bit stiff, but if he does decide to come down eventually, what would you shoot for? Thanks!

That's a very reasonable price, especially with the case. Sure, you will pay to get it up to spec but then you'll have a great unit that'll last, with serious resale value. Could have had one a few years back but the dealer sold it before I could make the deal. So instead I bought the 2100. audioclassics.com doesn't have any 2105s right now. Check Ebay for price window. Good luck with your decision.

That is stiff, but fair. You are in Seattle, and a cheap one will be $900. What are you waiting for, if you want steak, you pay. Chopped beef is cheaper, but you don't want that.

I agree with Sheltie Dave. Go buy yourself that steak. His asking price is certainly below market value for a clean 2105 with slant leg cab. The prices on these and the 2505s just keep going up.

There was a near mint unrestored unit that just sold for $2275 on eBay, so this is not a bad deal with the case. I just got my 2105 back from Terry and I am quite certain it would take more than $1100 to pry it out of my hands, or course mine is near mint in the original box.
