Fairchild 412 Tonearm Recommendations

Hi, I picked a a 412 with Neat GA-1 sliding baton tonearm. It looks like a knock off of the GE baton arm but the length can be adjusted. I can't find much info on this arm. It needs to be completely rewired so I'm thinking I should go with another arm. I plan an using a Denon 103 cart. Been looking at the Technics ATP-12. Seems pretty reasonable on price. There is also an Technics AT-1501 for sale on ebay from Japan (not sure about that). Very nice looking arm though.

I love to know more about the Neat GA-1 arm or other tonearm recommendations.

Thanks,

Steve

If you can drill a hole, you can put any arm on there. I own 3 Fairchild 412s. I'm using the following tonearms: Micro Seiki MA-505, Fidelity Research FR-24, and SME-3009 II (unimproved).

Do you have a stock Fairchild plinth? I'm wondering if it would accommodate a longer arm, like a 10 or 12 inch.

Which arm do you like best?

The Fidelity Research is mounted in a piece of countertop I found in the alley.

The MA-505 is mounted on a stock "small" plinth. I had to drill a new mounting hole and shave a little wood, but was pretty easy.

The SME 3009 is on a stock "larger" plinth.

Which arm is better - who knows? They're all pretty nice.
