Fall in New England - Time for another Epic FrankenFest!

New location

85 WEST STREET
First floor
Walpole, MA 02081

ALERT!

Frank will not be able to host us this event.

JimB

New England Fall FrankenFest Saturday October 22nd in WALPOLE, MA

We'll start around 11AM and go until around 5-6 PM.

These events run smoothly with people taking more responsibility for bringing food and cleaning up afterwards.
Let's keep that up!

The swap / sell / freebie tables will be a given as usual and people can bring their favorite toys and systems to set up.
No charges or fees for anyone to buy, sell, or display - we do it for the love..

Just take your unsold treasure home with you, don't load up the dumpster.

Please spread the word to anyone and everyone in the New England area to attend - AK involvement isn't a requirement, although typically a given.

All that is required is an obsessive interest in all things audio - that's our common bond.

As per AK rules, please don't post your for sale items here.

Here's the link to the BarterTown for sale / trade / free thread (only accessible to AK subscribers - there's your incentive):

Yeah! Another great time ahead!
Frank had mentioned possibly setting up in the basement. Is this a fairly large area?

Yes - the basement is indeed a large area - though poorly lit we could bring a couple of halogen work lights to help with that.
My fear is that if we are upstairs and downstairs then people tend to hang out upstairs and never venture to other areas.
Everyone's thoughts on this are welcome - with the higher occupancy in the building our customary areas are no longer available so we should adjust accordingly.
Fortunately the basement has street level access around back - so it could certainly work out.

The last gathering was a bit tight. Lots of gear for sale and systems set up for demoing, all at the same time.
Maybe, the smaller area for the gear sale, swap etc... The basement area for system demoing? Just throwing this out there as a possibility.
Thoughts?

I don't think the basement's sonic properties would work very well with demoing equipment, being that it's basically a concrete cave from what I remember. But the space could be put to good use if we need it.

Hope the girl I'm seeing now will put up with me that long. She fondly remembers her father's McIntosh and Magnepan system.

Ah, bring her along!
I haven't seen the basement, and I thought the same thing too. We'll figure it out.

For demoing, I plan to bring my McIntosh amp and pre amp along with the DCM Time Windows I restored.
This is a very nice combination.

As of this moment, the large room next to my shop is available. We still have the upstairs front and rear hallways, perhaps these can suffice for demo areas.

Thanks for the updates Frank! Look forward to seeing you and everyone else in a few weeks.

With any luck, I'll be there. Not sure what I'm gonna bring, but I probably oughta try and get rid of some of the stuff which has accumulated around here. Of course, I'm sure I'm not the only one with similar ideas...

ALERT!

Frank will not be able to host us in Clinton this time around.

Good news is that Brian (aka baco99) has two locations that are available to us.

The first is the Walpole location we used a few years backfor the summer GTG - this looks to be our fall back option.

But the better one is a 250,000 square foot industrial building in Taunton that would be incredible. He already has the approval of the landlord but he needs to confirm that the utilities are on.

Either location would require that attendees sign an insurance waiver.

Stay tuned, we should know more in a few days - and please pass the word to everyone.

New England Fall FrankenFest Saturday October 22nd in Clinton, MA

It's time for the Fall GTG at our customary location at Franks shop.

Yada - it's the same as always - spread the word, old friends and new friends, it's what these are all about!

55 Sterling Street
Clinton Ma 01510

Just over the railroad tracks.

I'd like to encourage everyone who's coming to put a link to this post in their signature line - spread the word.

We as usual, need to be careful about parking - we don't want to use the lot across the street but we can park in front (as usual) and there is a lot around back on Parker Street.

We'll start around 11AM and go until around 5-6 PM.

These events run smoothly with people taking more responsibility for bringing food and cleaning up afterwards.

As usual, we're not sure at this time what space will be available to us - I'll give Frank a call or he can post here as the time approaches.

Just take your unsold treasure home with you, don't load up Frank's dumpster.

As a quick update. Looks like Taunton is the better spot. I'm getting the keys to the castle next week. I'll take some pictures so people can guesstimate what to bring. All utilities are ON. Bring a roll of TP....

Right now we're looking at a third option in Walpole.

On the plus side it's a lot closer than Taunton and there's plenty of room.

On the negative side it's on the third floor - but there's a freight elevator so we'll just need some dollies and hand trucks.

Brian will get some pictures and hopefully have more details Monday.

in total fairness, Taunton's gotta be close to... somebody. you know? ;)
Maybe, e.g., Paul(?)

Now, if I were emperor of New England* you'd be lookin' at someplace in, say, Nashua, or Manchesta (aka ManchVegas)...

Just sayin', you know?

So sorry to hear that Frank is not well. The Hardys' best wishes and most uplifting possible thoughts be upon him.
