Fall Twangfest Prep already?

I guess I don't have jurisdiction over in KS to cite anybody for air pollution violations and improper disposal of solid wastes. Don't expect me to stand downwind of the cloud of dioxins though. :smoke:

Yeh, I'm just talking about RF coils and speaker VCs. We have a guy at work that built a wire stripping machine with a motor on it. It's cool as hell, and will strip almost everything but a Nun. Black smoke wouldn't be good, we aren't even supposed to have lumber or stuff like that, limbs only says the firemen.

No Bonfire of the Vanities? LOL

I used to go to that big bluegrass fest down in Winfield KS. One year out in the campground someone threw a whole sofa onto a bonfire. It was awful! They actually banned bonfires after that. :-)

BTW I'm bringing apple pie and the Atlantic Oracle IV's that I brought once before. Hopefully some other great speakers will show up so we can have good systems running inside and out.

i remember that. i was mixing the main stage and you could smell it. we are bringing deviled eggs. cant wait to see everyone. anybody talked to D Ray?

Sounds like good bonfire weather. My pile is so big I'm going to light it Saturday morning and I'm sure it will be going strong at dark. I have some logs in there 15 feet long, by 4 foot diameter. 100+ year old Elms. As a bonus, the copper wire from the organs and consoles make pretty colors as they burn. :)

Insulated wire has a premium, might want to check the ICW (insulated copper wire) prices.
The price should be based on % copper (example: mixed computer wire is 28%, so cable is 35/36%, romex is 54% copper, cat 5/6 comm wire is 55% MCM 80 to 92%) at a big yard with a chopping line.

Should be a couple in KC. I can't afford to strip any of it....does look cool in the fire, but I have my very own guy like tox....

We used to find real mag wheels or magnesium volkswagon engine blocks. Add some water and man the colors you would get. Fantastic if you appreciation of color had been enhanced somehow.:para:

That reminds me, if any of you guys have any heavy, and long extension cords, we are going to need some for the outdoor stuffs.

Maybe they were just trying to rid it of bed bugs?:scratch2:

I'll bring a 100' for sure but, I may not get there until mid afternoon Saturday. You can borrow it all weekend- I'll get it back from you some other time.

I can bring a big 10ga and a big 12ga,but I'm likely gonna hit the road about 9 or 10PM.
Fire is lit,and we oughta be smokin' butt in about 20 minutes.:thmbsp:

I'm bringing a table, and have added heavy extension cords to my "bring" list, mostly the ones I use for the electric mower. Maybe some power blocks too...

I'll bring some stuff too just to make sure there's plenty. Y'all might want to bring a lawn chair for settin round the fire. How you'll keep it for your own private butt is another problem. :D

just got some very sad news. fellow AKER orionkc (rick greeson) has passed away. we had been trying to contact him since early this year to no avail. it seems he left us on the 25th of sept. 2014. i will miss my friend for the rest of my life.

this twangfest will be a great way to remember him.

Sorry to hear this.I went up to his house and listened to some mighty fine electrostatic speakers.I then bought a pair of 60's empty cabinets and my Philips 477 speakers from him. They were the exact same model speakers as in my first system I bought in the mid 70's.I thought he was a helluva guy.

Aww gee. :sigh: Wonder if he's in any of the photos of previous Twangfests.

yes he is. erin and i have some backed up to a cd rom. will try to look for them in between making eggs.

we are going to bring a card for everyone to sign. on veterans day erin & I will take it and flowers to his resting place. Rick was a US Army vet.

lets all remember to raise a glass to him.

im really very sad

eric

I believe orionkc is sitting here on the truck next to Terry in this photo from 9/28/13. This is not my photo so, I can't take credit.

I'm very sorry to hear the news.

See you all tomorrow.

Brian
