It's all good, the purpose of this thread is to educate each other on the talented artists that created these great songs. No restrictions on genre or county of origin.
 
Since this song and tune were originally written in the 1860s. I was unable to find a version by the writer. The tune became famous when new words were put to it in the early 1900s. Let's see if anyone can come up the newer song .

 
Ray Charles, Willie Nelson even Michael Bolton had hits with this Hoagy Carmichael & Stuart Gorrell classic. Hoagy composed the music and Stuart wrote the lyrics, said to be about Hoagy 's sister. In 1979 it was adopted as the official state song.

 
Stevie Wonder originally wrote Pastime Paradise for his seminal album Songs in the Key of life. The music was used in Coolios 1995 smash Gangsta's Paradise.
