The soundtrack to "De-lovely" is pretty good. Robbie Williams absolutely nails his Cole Porter song. Moulin Rouge has a soundtrack that is quite unique for a musical.

I had a hard time not going with The Magnificent Seven as one of my most memorable sountracks. It made a big impression on me when the movie first came out.

Your choice of Conan The Barbarian reminds me of Carmina Burana. The first time I heard CB, I was at the Glendale (California) Auditorium. The performance was a rehearsal by the University of Southern California Student Orchestra and Chorus. As i entered the auditorium, I noticed the first 10 to 20 rows were empty. Every seat from there to the last row was occupied. I sat down and proceeded to discover why. If you look closely at the video, at the conclusion of the first orchestral and choral surge, you will notice a bassoon player in the middle of the screen blocking his ear with his right hand. Needless to say -- LOUD.

Poledouris did some fine scores (Quigley Down Under, Hunt for Red October, Starship Troopers and Robocop come to mind) and was a favorite of John Milius (Conan, Red Dawn, Big Wednesday, Farewell to the King, Flight of the Intruder) though I think the best score in a Milius picture was Jerry Goldsmith's in The Wind and the Lion.

The superb scores that Prokofiev wrote for the films of Eisenstein "Alexander Nevsky" and "Ivan The Terrible".
