Feedback From New Mac Dealer

I posted a while back that Audio Visions South in Tampa is now a Mac dealer. When i stopped in Fri night I spoke to Chris, one of the sales guys there and he had just returned from the factory to undergo training. To quote Chris, "Dude, I am now a complete believer!" He was totally blown away by the attention to detail, engineering prowess, and long term tenure of so many of the employees. He was also proud to show me how well the XRT2K sounded with just an MC402. Mind you, this was in one of their smaller rooms, they are getting ready to move the XRT2Ks into the "big" room with the MC2KWs, which have powering some Wilson Alexandrias while the amps run in. All in all AVS sounds like they will be a very good Mac dealer as they get more knowledgeable on the product line. I get the impression they are already strong fans based on their short exposure to the gear so far.

Good guys

It's been quite a while since I 've been in their store but I remember they were good guys to deal with. I bought my first acoustic foam room treatments there. I'll have to make it a point to stop in and see them the next time I'm in Tampa.

Hey Pete,
I'm on their mailing list too and they have regular events (I think on a monthly basis). I'll let you know next time they are hosting something.

Cool!

Hey Sal,

Thanks! It's been years since i've been in there so I'm sure I wouldn't be on any of their lists anymore.

If this store is the same that I stopped in during the mid '80s to listen to some Martin Logans, they've changed their tune. At time they were pushing some Cary Quicksilvers from memory and when I mentioned McIntosh they started laughing and went into the stock anti-Mc discourse.

Don't know if it's the same business or not, but the store location is fairly new, maybe 12-15 years at the curreent location. I've been doing business with them since 96 and they haven't carried Martin Logan in that time period. Weren't the mid 80s the Clarion days?

I have read over and over again in this forum how important a good dealer is. I have not had a great experience in my area and have either bought used from trusted sources, or from Audio Classics. I won't use dealer names, but I called several dealers recently in my state, and basically said that I was jealous of the relationship some of my fellow lovers of Mac have with their dealers, and that if I could find someone to work with, I could be a loyal long term customer. After several calls, and a complete understanding of each others expectations, they made me a great deal on a component I have coveted for some time. My wife always says, about any product, that it can be bought anywhere, what is provided in any given place is service.

I think I found a great place to get service with a product I love.

Congrats on your new dealer.

Sal,

I think if George could get mons as a sponsor for his demo events, something tells me foot traffic would increase. :naughty:
