Feeling a little buzzed :/

Well, the receiver not me so much :) 2230 restored. Everything works great with a small itty bitty exception. The phono setting will give what sounds like a 60 cycle hum if the volume is up about 1/2 way. If I touch the chassis, it goes away. This started because in the loft where I had it, I had a loud buzz at low volume that would diminish if I grounded the turntable to the receiver. I flipped the plug, I put everything on the same power strip. No change. With the deck and the Receiver clipped together, its less but still there. On the bench, it's less without anything plugged into it but still there at half volume. Till I touch the chassis. This one has me a bit puzzled. I rechecked all my work and all caps appear to be in the correct places and oriented correct. No noise on any other input.. all are dead quiet. Just the phono.

Ideas? I was going to poke at it some tonight with the scope and see if I can find some ripple somewhere.

Ok. On my 2245 I get noise with the cover off. Cover on, it goes away. I replaced the caps and transistors on the board.

Did that.. all new caps, troublesome diodes replaced, two new transistors etc. Everything works well other than the 60 cycle buzz :/ I went and tightened all the grounding I could find including the transformer ground. No wires touching that I can see. I'll check things with a scope tonight and make sure my soldering is up to snuff and I didn't forget a pad or got messy with one. Hit the basics first then panic :)

Is the 2230 sitting near another piece of gear that is inducing noise into the phono? Have you tried flipping the AC plugs on the Marantz and the TT over, one at a time?
I am assuming you have the ground wire from the turn table connected to the chassis ground post on the rear of the receiver.

Right now the turntable is NOT connected. The unit is on the bench by itself. The turntable is wired into a Kenwood I just finished and works fine.. no AC hum. And yes, I did flip the plug.. no change. and yes, when the TT was wired up, I had it grounded to the chassis of the 2230
 
I chased all over my 2325 and finally found one of the cords I was putting into an input had a bad ground. Just a thought.
 
It was a crappy ground on the chassis. With the shorting plugs in place she's dead quiet now. And with the TT wired up and ground wire in place, dead quiet. Now ;) I think one of the issues is that the phono amp in the 2230 is "hotter" than my 226B or 2285B to the point that just waving my hand over the input side can induce some noise. This is reduced with the grounding working better.
