Hello< Long time lurker, just tgought I better join eventually :P

I was brought up on metal and rock vinyl (although in retrospect our hifi was more shi-te-fi hehe.

It started with a full technics setup, the double tape deck , CD Player, amp and a charity shop TT, and the standard (I cant remember) Technics speakers of the day. The amp was the 301 I think?

I've always wanted to have a decent separates setup and I'm kind of at the frankenstein point and it's DEFINITELY not setup the way it should be that is a post for another time But I have a decent TT (Dual 704), just need a better cart, Sanyo DCX-4000k stereo Receiver/Tuner for the pre amp because its phono stage is delicious to me anyway, a Integrated AKAI 2450 Integrated amp as the power amp, I know it's not right but hey ho.. Seem to have landed in a good area for vintage kit though as both the sanyo and the akai have been local, as well as a newer yamaha integrated amp and a cyrus one amp both sat doing nothing alongside a NAD Receiver.

Speaker wise- dont laugh please- Eltax towers, bi wired into channel A and then Mercury Tannoy and JPWnSonatas bi wired into B. Both sets are in parallel which isn't ideal as the sanyo is rated to 6ohm mni But the sensitivities and drivers are all so different it's hard tom balance, so I kept my Technics EQ, :)

So yeah, here to learn how to properly set this up and keep on collecting. I dont want matching kit, I just want to get it right to get maximum clarity and depth of sound without having so manyn speakers and bits and pieces.

That Dual 704 is a beast. Good table. Apologize for nothing, enjoy whatever you got. No audio snobs here.

why not use the integrated to run one set, the receiver the other, no dramas then.

couldn't find a clear picture of the back of the receiver, but if just jumpers on the pre out/main in then just a pair of Y connectors off the pre out, with one set of ends in the main in, the other to the Akai.

Not sure if the Akai works this way, but some of the older Kenwood integrated amps like the KA-4006 leave the volume control in line when used strictly as an amp to allow ballancing the outputs for quad setups.

Handy feature, I have one connected to the preamp in my living rm to drive my rear lanai speakers.

Thanks! I'll check this out. Selling the Eltax anyway (if they even sell) as they were just too boomy for the room. Have some JPW 510ML's connected to one channel and the JPW Sonatas to another. Took the tannoys and Yamaha amp upstairs to be my PC audio for now until I make another decision (or run out of money!)
