Finalized Super 12 Cabinets. Now We Wait

Well I stopped in at Cain&Cain/Lovecraft Designs today, and finalized the cabinet plans with Jason.

This is going to be a nice cabinet. Building it out of 3/4" ply, most likely cherry or alder finish. Just depends on what extra stock Jason has around from building the Cain&Cain speakers. The front sides and back will be mitered so that no edges show. The bottom will be rabitted in, and finally an internal picture frame brace. Finish will be a sprayed poly coat...although there is some nice hand rubbed finish that may be left over from a custom order project. Might be enough to finish my cabinets. I gave jason alot of leeway on what needs to be done to build them, but whatever he ends up doing you know it's going to be a fine piece of furniture.

Going to use cryro treated magnet wire. Unless I can get Audio Magic to part with some raw wire. Hopefully get some of the brass spikes that are used on the Cain&Cain speakers. Should end up with Cardas binding posts.

Now for the tough part. Waiting. This set of cabinets need to be worked into his current production orders. So who knows how long I will have to wait. Probably at least a month, maybe two. We will see.

Dropped off the Audio Nirvana drivers to Jason. It is really cool to see a 12 inch driver with whizzer cone and phase plug. Looks like a Titan in full range driver land. Nice surround, good quality stamped frame. If it performs like the Super 8 does in the midrange, then I think it is a great value. Common Sense claims mid 30 hertz output in their 2.8 cabinet design. 95.5db efficiency, so I may even be able to try some 2a3 based amplifiers.

I am not the most patient of barnyard animals.
