Finally a curb find

I was driving home earlier in the day when I spotted this. I for sure thought it was not working. I took it home and it works perfectly. Not sure why someone would leave this on their curb. I have never had one of these before. I will connect it to my system and if I can't hear the difference at least my equipment will be better protected. Looks pretty and will keep my plugs organized.

NICE! Whoever curbed it probably had no idea of what these are used for, probably thought is was just a glamorized extension cord!

Congrats. That's a nice useful find but unfortunately not valuable. I have a HTS-3500 which has a slow start switched outlet which is ideal for tubes. If your 2600 has a slow start outlet, you have a winner. Glad you didn't drink the Kool-Aid, you will not hear a difference at the amp with this piece.

Yep that's about the size of it. I have an HTS-2500 that I bought for $20 several years ago. Does what it's supposed to, provide some measure of protection, look cool and impress people that are easily impressed. :D

I know it's not valuable however I wouldn't pay anything for one of these because I am not there yet with the tweaking part of my system. But for free I'll take it and utilize it. It keeps everything organized.

Every source connected turns on seconds from each other. Everything is on after 8 - 10 seconds. Thats pretty neat

Perhaps it was slowing him down?

That totally depends on the quality of the power without it. If there is no problem, then the solution won't have an effect. I don't buy into a lot of audiophile voodoo, but power conditioning is real.

It works, but do you (the OP) know if it is working properly? I ask because I know (empirically!) that at least some of those power management/protector thingies are "one and done" when subjected to a big surge. They're potentially fixable (I think the active element is a MOV) but -- at least the unit I had (non-Monstrous) resisted my efforts to dissect it when it failed*.

I "donated" mine to the freebie pile at our regional semi-annual antique radio/electronics fleamarket.

_______________
* "Failure", in the case of the one I had, meant the little "protected" LED went out -- it still worked as an outlet strip but it had given its all in terms of protection.

I was wondering about that. When i plugged it in there was a buzz tone going through my speakers. I turned it off then back on and its been good since. The LED for clean power is on. As far as i can tell its functioning properly. All LED's on the unit are working.

Find a copy of the manual online, it should hopefully tell you if it indicates when it's been activated or has failed.

Whoever tossed that probably replaced their system with a Sound Bar and some other junk and hung their TV on the wall and there was no place for 'that old thing.' They might regret it when lightning fries all their equipment.

Reviving old thread with new info.
I rarely if ever find something. A magnavox mono tube amp full of gunk and no tubes was the best so far.

Today I found these, together. No power cords butI likely have one. Don’t really need either but going to a landfill would suck. Both are AV amps. All cleaned up since taking pics at curb.
