It is always a fun milestone to pickup a missing piece in my Sansui collection. Even moreso when the one you find is from an original owner that really took great care of his gear.

This one does not seem to be missing anything from the day it came out of the box. A fabulous piece, but it has no output and will need some technical help before I am able to get her playing.

Wow, I have never seen that accessory box. Nice find. The speaker switch is also the pre/main switch. May need cleaning if the jumpers are missing.

Very nice. That is a great sounding receiver and my second favorite behind my 1000a. I hot rodded mine to have the lights on with all functions rather than just the tuner functions.

Thanks for sharing the photos, it's really neat to see an 8 with the original packaging. Those "Sansui" emblazoned cleaning cloths are a cool touch. Best of luck getting your beauty up and running again! I wouldn't part with mine for the world.

Nice to see a wood veneer case on a Sansui. Well that sucks it is broken, oh well this is why we are here is to help people fix them. Get out the service manual and DMM and get at it :) Basically starts with testing power supplies and going from there. Learn to use an ohmmeter. Lots to check even before applying power. Check the fuses, there are fuses going to the amp too F006,008

Love it when a Sui comes with it's provenance details...love reading about them too...just makes them so much more special reading about their origins and journeys!
I guess in the short term we are all the owners of Sui's...in the long term term the custodians...
Think i'll write a little message of ownership details/purchase price/maintenance details/dates and times in my special Sui's for future owners to discover...
Like a message in a bottle! :)

It is quite an exceptional piece. As is common with Sansui's, this one was purchased by someone in the military. He also bought a set of Pioneer CS-88a and they are also mint (with exception of the tweeter foam) in boxes with all included materials.

When I was picking them up, he relayed how he had reached out to his old military buddy to tell him the stereo they used to rock to was being sold. He was quite glad it was going to someone that appreciated it.

For certain pieces, I do plan to insert some kind of ownership details inside the units (mostly speakers) so prior owners will not be forgotten. Some things are just so special I feel the history is well deserved.
