Finally dove into the MC pool... WOW

Yes, I do understand That Americans like to call things by different names, such as calling Bison, Buffalo, but the language is English and if it is to be spoken by others please make an effort to get it right. Thank you.
You already tried this in post #93 in this thread, give it a break and maybe join a grammar forum where you can claim your superiority there

Putting you on ignore as you're just a tiring bore.

That is wonderful, but please say dived, as a dove is a bird, I was reading this for a few minutes before I understood what you are talking about.
I've never said "dived" in my life :P

As someone pointed out either is considered correct and as far as your previous comment you posted a week ago "I suppose as with all people we are proud of our heritage and as I am English, born and bred in England, I don't like to hear my language distorted." I was proudly born and bred in the southern US and I'm not going to apologize for the way we speak here. Good bye :)

The English language is constantly changing...common usage is king...it would otherwise have died off a long tine ago...and BTW...in Great Britain, English is used differently from country to country...and in some places...from county to county...get a grip man! :bigok:

Pointed out to this poster the last time he tried to act superior in this same thread that the English use "fag" for cigarette when it's origin is actually cigarillo (sounds more like cigarette) along with other words the English have similarly bastardized so he just needs to crawl back into the hole he came from and get off his high horse.

There are many words with double meanings (polysemous) that are spelled the same….If you really want to find divergence terms, English woodworking books are very enlightening. The term “clamp” in American woodworking was originally “cramp” in English woodworking.

The context determines the meaning with polysemous words.

You dove right into this conversation, bear with me a minute and i‘ll show you black bear that’s so minute he’s no bigger than a Turtle Dove, undetectable from the spotter plane, so stop using that smoothing plane for a minute and concentrate on finishing your work, and I’ll get you a can of Orange juice concentrate so you can get the concept. :rflmao:

Forgive the nonsensical syntax, the topic became a bit acerbic so I added some levity

If you use words that others don't understand Then you are going to run into problems, as I pointed out at the beginning post I thought you were talking about a bird. In fact a Dove.

So clarify here how you thought I was talking about a bird in relation to a turntable, like I was putting a dove on my tonearm? Or that the context of the title could just as easily have said "I finally parakeet into the MC pool... WOW" Seriously?

Well, that's an assumption on your part, and since the the name of the bird is not a proper noun, it should not be capitalized. Your incorrect usage led me to believe you were talking about an ice cream bar.

Yeah, I'm now confused about how an ice cream bar relates to a phono cart!

Copied below is the original statement, the context is clearly about cartridges, (turntable not rifle).

Claiming confusion with a bird is either banal or fatuous?

“Well I finally dove in, got an MC cart and a SUT box from Ned Clayton using those cinemag transformers. Hooked this up to an AT 0C9MXL, and after finding the right combination of turns ratio switches for this cart, I am stunned. I'm hearing stuff I didn't even know was there, I can hear individual voices in the chorus sections. The delicacy of the high end is.. again shocking is the only word I can come up with. Still has great bass and smooth mids without being fatiguing, and I'm sure after some hours of breaking it, it's just gonna get better.”

Edit: BTW The word “dove” as used above is pronounced differently, called a declension….As a scuba diver, half of my diving partners in Saudi Arabia were British, none used ”dived” they always used dove.

Try again, you said the same thing way back in post #93, apparently you just read titles and comment without reading the thread as you so claimed or you would have known you already tried this crap, typical trolling.

Stop the whole dove divergence and get back on topic, this being a Turntable related discussion, not avian. Offenders will be deleted shortly.
