Just acquired a 1500 for around £30 GBP, owner said it wouldn't read discs, spun up and read TOC first time but woudnt play first track onwards, anyway i cleaned the laser, lubed the rails and cleaned them of old dried grease the best i could and it started to play to a degree but then wouldnt go past certain points on the disc (same point) figured it was some dried grease preventing the laser head to travel past that point and also but made a kinda clicking noise sometimes ,strange thing is the clicking noise disappears when the player is placed on its side and plays much better but obviously this isnt an ideal situation! lol....i think it might be the dreaded felt ring on the clamp as i looked at it and it has definitely seen better days , ordered some sticky back felt to do the repair, should be good, going to do my 1300 and 1100 while i have the felt , which also are great machines with similiar organic smooth sound, much prefer these older machines to todays modern alternative, just hope we can keep them going!
