Finally got a 700!

After many years of hunting I have finally been able to locate a recapped Kenwood 700M and 700C that I could afford.

This past weekend I drove from KC to Michigan to pick this system up from an AK member who completely recapped the both units.

The pre-amp is not in perfect condition cosmetically but for the price it is amazing.

The sound of this setup is amazing, I really didn’t think it would sound that much better than my KA-9100, I was wrong. My Klipsch F-30’s do not sound like the same speakers.

Big thanks to Brent H. in Michigan for recapping and selling me this unit.

I think that idea that 'how could it sound much better than my really good gear' is a common thought on AK. Many here get something that is a good step up and are rewarded with better sound. Others content with what they have and their knowledge that what they have has to be great. And you 9100 was great, you just discovered there is more/better out there and can enjoy the fruits of your search.

Congratulations! I would love to be able to compare that set up to the L-09M, L-07Cll combo I'm using to see if they sound similar, or just completely different. That 700M, 700C set sure us pretty, and I'll bet it sounds fantastic. Enjoy!

I have decided to upgrade the speakers I am using with the 700 setup.
Got a good deal on some new Klipsch RP 280's that sound fantastic to me.
They are a huge improvement over the old Klipsch Synergy F20's, nowhere near as bright sounding. I was mistaken at first and called them F-30's (wishful thinking I guess!).

If only the midwoofer was the equal of that glorious matrix tweeter. That horn is exceptional. The midwoofer sounds muffled in comparison. I did not mean to rain on your parade. I was just typing what I was thinking. There is so much potential in the RP series for greatness with just a little improvement. I think Klipsch has just about perfected the horn for the compression driver. It is still a very good speaker and a definite improvement over what they have done for mass market speakers.
