Finaly got my Okki Nokki but.....

I just got my Okki Nokki this morning and I'm slightly disappointed (I'm like this with most things I get at first he he). I am telling myself that I've not gotten the hang of it yet. I mixed the stuff that came with it With purified water and used Nitty Gritty enzyme before using it. Maybe it takes some records several cleans to show results but at least it sucks all the liquid off and is easier to use than the Knosti I used previously.

What's the best way to get good results from it and did anybody else take a wee while to get good results. I'll admit I've only tried it with three records so far.
I would have had to wait for a black Okki so I just got the white one and I might give it a custom paint job as in the attached photo.

I found that there was a learning curve. My simple list to good results for beginners are:

Don't skimp on the amount of fluid you use. No flood needed either.

Let it soak, I clean the next record many times while listening to one. Many times this is for 15-20 minutes. If it is a "dirty" record don't forget to scrub with a quality brush.

Rinse "dirty" records twice and clean ones usually once is enough. Again don't skimp on distilled water. It removes more of the cleaners ingredients.

After 20-30 records you should have a routine that satisfies you, and probably will make small adjustments for many months.

Thanks, 91r100gs. I will have to get more water for rinsing as I used all the 1ltr.bottle I had for the mixture. I did my Ella Fitzgerld & Joe Pass record first and when I played it there was crackles on the first track that weren't there before and I discovered that it needed to dry properly first, because when I played it again later the crackles were gone. There was still a loud pop on a track though which was disapointing. One thing I do love straight away about the RCM is the convenience. It's far less messy than the Knosti Antistat.
I now use the Knosti drying rack to let the records dry though and no more streaks and gunge on the needle from the knosti fluid.

What results were you expecting?

I thought the loud pops would be gone or very much reduced at least. Some quieter clicks are still there unless they're due to not letting them dry sufficiently.

I think it's like 91r100gs said, I am still on a learning curve.

I love my Okki Nokki and have cleaned hundreds of records with it so far with no issues. There is a bit of learning curve. You'll figure out a technique over time, such as how much fluid to use. There are a few videos on youtube you can check out. The brush that comes with the machine isn't the best IMO. I like the cleaning brush that Osage Audio sells. It really made distributing the solution on the record faster. I like the AIVS one step cleaning solution. It works great for my needs and there is no rinsing. When you lower the wand for the vacuum step don't push it down on the record, let the vacuum suck the wand down on the record. I always let my records air dry for around thirty minutes before I put them in a new MFSL sleeve or play them. You'll get the hang of it. It takes a little time.

I saw some vids on the tube and one of them showed the sound of the turntable motor as having a bearing grinding noise especially on the reverse mode. I expected that just before I switched it on for the first time and was surprised at how quiet it was on both directions. The cat ran for it and stood at his flap ready to make a run for it when he first heard the vacuum :lmao: After a while he was back and I waited 'til he had his nose a centimetre away and said......BOO! he jumped about half my height :lmao::lmao:
