Several of these came up on CL in Chicago last year. They are funky, but when the owner asked over a hundred bucks, I don't think they ever sold. The electronics and build quality looks kind of cheap. If you were building a retro family room in your basement, they might be kind of cool as a conversation piece. The price paid should be close to free. I don't think they have any resale value.

Seems to be an east coast / northeast phenomenon. I would really like to know the story behind these, who made them, who sold, the marketing as to why you would want one, etc. I saw one few years ago at a yard sale and they are truly bizarre. I believe it was made in Italy as the solid-state electronics were labeled as such. It did look cheap overall but it wasn't made cheap if that makes sense. The laminate was a garish faux marble and it had a padded upholstered section in maroon velour! But, it was heavy plywood inner construction, solidly built, and with good quality hardware. I suspect there is a fascinating story to these things and how they came into being.
 
Seems to me they were designed for the budget minded bachelor on the make. Cozy fire? Check! Romantic tunes? Check! Drugged cocktail? Check!

Add a remote control dimmer and off you go.
 
Don't forget the rotating round bed and ceiling mirrors.

One of those was on the CL in Colo Spgs 6 months or so ago. I don't recall the price, but I remember it didn't seem unreasonable. If I had room for it, I would have checked it out. Too Glenn Quagmire for words!
 
Seems that some of the sold for as much as $395 in 1965. That was a lot of dough back then.

Someone else has one advertised as a Fisher Sonic Koronette

One owner calls the Albatross and asks, ":What could you have possibly done to deserve inheriting the Koronette as punishment just short of eternal damnation? Real estate, cars, money, jewelry - these all make great inheritances.... the Koronette is an albatross - say 3 Hail-Mary's and get thee (and the Koronette) to a thrift store post haste....."

I've got to be totally honest here. That thing would go sooo well in my office along with my collection of Lava lamps. If it weren't $200, I would seriously consider it :bigok:

I would wait a couple of days and then make an offer of 50 bucks. You might get it. It is kinda cool. :yes:
