First impression Fluance rt82

Easy setup but the included level and 2 I had were off. 3, made to level tt were off, sad. I used a torpedo level I had that was correct. The 3 leg system works great. Day one I played a bunch of familiar lps with the included OM10. Sounds great, better than my ATlp120usb. I never used the preamp in the AT but never removed it either. Today I'm listening to a Shure m93e w/n91e stylus at 1.25 grams. The AT never played well at that tracking weight. The arm on the rt82 is almost 6 grams lighter than rt83-85, roughly 21-27 grams. The cart setup is the same as the AT or Technics for that matter. Very happy so far. I'll probably get rid of the AT. I really don't need 3 tt. Just used the auto stop feature, very nice.

Is this so/are Fluance again advertising that much mass in their arms?

I remember they used to advertise 27g, and when I mentioned this in another thread (might have been here on AK, but can't remember), someone said they're actually nowhere near that heavy and it was a typo from the manufacturer. I went back to check maybe a month or two ago, and they no longer advertised the mass.

Just curious, because I often want to recommend the Fluance tables to people looking for a good budget table and going brand new, but the impression of the arm being very heavy made me think twice.

If they sound good though, I want to believe 27g is wrong - in theory, it would make the arms a terrible match for any of the included Ortofon cartridges (just in theory, though).

The owner's manual is for all 4 tables and has the specs. The counterweight is almost all the way to the fulcrum with the OM10 @1.5 grams. It's back a bit with the m93e @1.25. Still a good bit sticking out in the back though. I didn't know about the arm being lighter until I read the manual. I didn't want a 2m red or blue.
 
Definitely mdf. Not a problem in a low humidity climate. A mdf platter is another matter. As mentioned in a review the finish scratches easily. I've ordered a silicone mouse pad that I'll cut to fit on the arm side. This table has wow&flutter specs almost as good as my plastic Onkyo did when new.
 
The black one was the only one available. I think it's plastic. The wood ones don't cost more so probably fake.
 
All of Fluance's plinths are made of MDF, not chipboard. Some have a vinyl veneer to look like wood.

All are covered with a thick coating of polyurethane.

I have heard that sticking some damping material (like is used in the auto industry to soundproof interiors) around the outer rim of the aluminum platter makes a relatively significant difference.
