First Pioneer restoral - with a custom accent

At 63, just getting back to my stereo roots. This is my second recap/restore project. First one was smooth as silk, but I had a couple novice mistakes on this one, but finally got it. Made some custom solid walnut side panels for this SX-550 and my buddy gave it a SWEET custom touch with a laser logo! Let me know what you think.

Nice job @triplegee77. I've never attempted to build a new cabinet but I did refinish an SX-680 in cherry veneer. Not an original walnut look like the original plastic film veneer, possibly considered blashemy by some, but an improvement IMO. That one had a nasty case of peeling as opposed to the one on the right in the photo that I was repaitring for a friend.

Very nice! I like the cherry. When I got my SX-550, it didn't even have woodgrain film on the side panels. It was a solid color - light brown, and peeling very badly. Not very attractive. This is going to be a wedding present for my daughter, so wanted to add a little personalization to it.
 
That is great and those side are great. How did you get those side panels? I am about to start work on a 550 with some really ugly side panels.

Thanks. A buddy of mine has a woodworking shop and gave me a couple of scrap pieces of walnut. We planed them to the same thickness and he lasered the Pioneer logos. I drilled the screw holes, coated with mineral oil and had some new side panels. The original panels weren't great looking:
