First Sansui!

Snagged myself an AU-11000A to see what all this Sansui talk is about... Actually, I was thinking of downsizing the Pioneer C90/M90/etc separates in the living room. I'm after this MCM console and I want everything on top. A turntable, tuner, and an integrated seem to make more sense than a huge stack of gear. Plus I love how these damn things look!

Been listening for about an hour through my Polk SDA 1s (SDA unplugged), so far not bad. I'd like to do an A/B on the Pioneer vs Sansui over the weekend before I make any concrete decisions. All I've done to the Sansui is check dc offset to see if it was safe so I'll have to go through it a bit more as well. The tone/filter pot is scratchy and doing the strange things a dirty tone pot does when it acts up so that's #1 on the list.

One question though, is this thing supposed to have 5 feet? I only got 4 and the center hole looks like it's had a screw run through it before.

I will get some by this weekend after the cleanup. Looking forward to seeing what this has to offer on the phono stage as well.

Do these run hot all the time? I can barely touch the heat sinks and I work around hot stuff all day. I have it sitting by itself on a lowboy dresser so there's no ventilation issues. I'll grab my infrared thermometer from work tomorrow and get an actual value on it. Could be from all the dust, I have no way of blowing it out at home. Or the fact that it's almost 80 in my place right now. Maybe I should buy an air compressor instead of audio equipment next time... I'm not thinking out loud at all here.

As far as DC offset is concerned, it's in great shape. 3-4mV on the left channel and 13-14mV on the right channel. I'll bring that right channel down a touch as it hits 16mV from time to time and I don't like knowing anything I own is over 15mV.
