First step into MC

I have never thought about going the MC route until recently. I have purchased a Denon DL-103R cartridge, but as my Luxman 503s amp doesn't take MC, I need a SUT/preamp. I have acquired a Tisbury Domino from a friend, and I need advice on whether I should stick with the Domino or upgrade, as this is my first venture into moving coil. Your comments would be helpful.

Post back with your impressions of the sound now with the 103R and the Tisbury vs what you had before. Mention what that was and we’ll be able to decide if you need a different way to get LOMC sound from your rig.

Or unless you just want us to help you spend money. The Tisbury gets good reviews but some $$$$ units get very good reviews. Time to upgrade. Hope that helps.

congrats. That was me a decade or two ago. the one thing to remember is a step is not a step up. There are active gain stages and step up transformers. You may want to look into a step up transformer. there are tons out there. Something like the Sony HA-T30 is very simple to use into a MM phono input.
I have been using LOMCs now for over ten years. Not sure I could return to MM land.
