First Try at This Game...

So it all started one day after work when I bought my first set of real speakers. I picked up a pair of Technics SB-2560's for $30 and a 1996 Pioneer pro logic receiver to power them for $20. I consider that my first ever half decent sound system.

Then I started looking around for a better receiver. That is when I found a Sony TA-N55ES at my local DI for $100. After that the hunt was on for a pre amp, I jumped on eBay one night and a Sony TA-E1000ESD had just been listed for $160 so I grabbed it. With those I now had the equipment to power my new system!

While visiting my grandmother on Christmas day I told her about my new found liking to audio equipment and she said she had some speakers in her basement that had sat for 10 years unused and it would be wonderful if I could get them out of her house. I walked down and to my amazement was a set of NHT VT 2.4's and a NHT SubTwo with its controller.

I set it all up and then was on the hunt for a decent CD player to replace the cheap DVD player I was currently using. One day again after work I stopped in at my Local DI and found a Onkyo Integra DX-C606. Currently I have it all hooked up and I am thrilled with the sound the system produces!

Nice! Some great finds at some great prices. My suggestion would be to visit some of the speaker placement tutorials on the web. I like the Cardas "golden ratio" theory, but there are others that work well too. Try some of the speaker placement recommendations on those sites (distances from front and side walls) and I think you will be amazed at the 3D imaging that those NHT's can produce :-)
 
So shiny! I like them. Wait until you can pull them out into the room a bit.

Very nice. I like the wood sides to the Sony components.

Just remember - it's all harmless fun until someone says "vinyl" - then things get crazy.:eek:
