Fisher 29-T Receiver. Console pull

Does anyone have a Sams for this Fisher model.

Might also be known as a P-290 chassis.

I've downloaded the Fisher Service Manual....but there seems to be some missing capacitor values....

The schematic shows 4 x .022 caps....and these aren't even listed on the Fisher Service Manual parts list.

The schematic parts numbers...are not listed either.

Thanks

Are these the output coupling caps you are looking at???? They are C8-C9-C11-C12. .022uf 400V on the schematic.

It looks as if the 20000-29999 and 30001-39999 versions of the P290 manual are "improvements" of an earlier chassis, probably going all the way back to the P280 for the P-25 console 1962. The P-28 for '63 and P-29 for '64 look to be the same chassis as the P-290 None of the 63 thru 66 S.M.'s have a complete component part list. But the Values for all the parts are on the schematic. I've seen the same thing on either a Futura or Custom Electra around 1965.

What exactly are you trying to figure out????

Yes, those are the coupling caps.....I think...kinda a beginner at this.

Yes C8,9,11,12. Schematic shows .022 as the value....but my schematic doesn't show the voltage.

I figured 400 to 600 volts would be OK....?

Just doing a preliminary look at fixing it up. I've been running it a bit....and after an hour or so....audio starts to get a bit of distortion...or fuzzy....just slightly.

Thanks for the info.

Caps will show voltage along with value on the casing. If you don't see it right away, carefully rotate it until you see the writing.

Yes, thanks. Got thrown a bit at they are not all the same. 2 brown and 2 are black. The brown ones are completely upside down....and buried under some resistors....

I was surprised at how small they are...later production = smaller I suppose.

Thanks for the help....I'll get on it bit by bit.

After I get going on this project I will post some pictures and appreciate suggestions and any help.

400v caps would do it, 630 would more than do it. Most of the brown turd caps I've seen in both my TA-600 and the 29-T were 400v. They're not real big caps either, its a film cap which is a lot smaller for it's size than most of the paper caps that were commonly in use around that time.

Most of the time film caps last about as long as Twinkies, but apparently this specific variety of them aren't so awesome. The epoxy around the leads on several in my TA-600 were cracked, which is probably what makes them go bad. Once they get moisture inside, the foil probably corrodes and its all over with at that point.
