Fisher 400 Help

Just picked up a fisher 400....super excited to get into Tube equipment. No story short, after reading a couple post here, thought I could figure out which faceplate I have, I guessed wrong and wiped some of the lettering off. By chance is there a place where the faceplate lettering is reproduced, where you could just apply the new lettering on a cleaned faceplate.....apologizes if I am missing where this was asked before!

I think the way people fix that specific problem is to deign a new face in a graphics program, then have it screen printed to your face.
It gets costly and time consuming...
Jump right in the deep end of tube amp restoration why dont you...

Around here the damned enviromentalists (read that as "hippy tree huggers") have pretty well killed all of the industries that did stuff like that. Screen printers and plating shops were first to get the axe

Well I think it is going to have to happen, since I wiped the B off of Bass.

I think I found it for a good deal, and have been wanting to get into tubes.....jumping in at the shallow end!
I think I am going to install the face plate and knob (picked the right cleaning method for those, which gave me the confidence I was guessing correct), and find a shop to get her up and running correctly before I do more damage! Start learning how it works before how to fix it!!

I do, I guess I didn't really think you could do that, but we see how my thinking guessing has gone today.
I was imagining more of decal like method of doing it...but thanks a lot Lavane and Trainbuftony

Computer design work could be the door leading down the rabbit hole...
I'm glad you found a quality tube amplifier at a price you can afford, I went through a number of amplifiers before I landed anything that nice...

Thanks, long story short, its the actual car I drove in high school. Kept it and about 9 years ago started to restore it, not sure it actually will ever stop. It is what taught me to quickly stop when you start messing up, it gets much more expensive if you continue! I would love a Pig!
I like the engraving idea, never have to worry about it rubbing off trying to make it shine! My worry is the rabbit hole with fabrications, the 40 taught me that the very hard way! Probably hold on to this one and just polish the hell of it and get this one engaged, and try to find a backup plan (replacement), then call it a day on fabs

@BuzzK uses a trophy shop with laser engraving capability to do front and rear panels. Maybe there is one of them near you that could engrave the entire front panel if you gave them a computer layout from which to work. Maybe take the front panel in for a consult before reassembling.

What did you use that wiped off the marking? I have never had that happen with anything yet. Use no solvents, have no problems. Soap/water should suffice in most cases.

I soaked it in soap water for 3 mins, didn't wipe, but blotted and the rest is history......

So that is the exact post I followed, the pdf version on the ipad, I do blame myself too, I honestly couldn't tell you if the lettering was brittle to begin with, I am one, if I get small victories (knobs/.glass), I will drive deeper, just to quick some times! The knobs and glass look GREAT now, I just have a B less Bass Selector now!
I greatly appreciate the direction, I need to check on my wounds and see if I want to continue to try, or if I need to find someone to get her up to tip top shape!
