Hey Folks.... I'm looking for help on making a fair offer for a Fisher 400 receiver. The receiver it is in very good cosmetic condition. It plays and all of the lights seem to work. I'm sure it needs some attention simply because of its age. What is a fair offer to make considering the work it may need. I hate to see it go to an estate sale. eBay prices are all over the board. Thanks in advance.

They are all over the map in sales. I would throw out $400ish with no wood case and $500+ with wood case, in the nice, working condition you describe. I paid $350 for mine, years ago, with original box and no case. A recap cost me a $100 and wood case another $200. These are great receivers. Hope you pick it up.
Yeah, 4 bills sounds about right. That is, if all we're talking bout is a recap and a few incidental mods. If we're talking about a unit with beat tubes, then that has to be taken into consideration. Then again, a couple of hundred buck swing here and there is nothing if you really want it. You quickly learn to forget about it.
Prices and sales are all over the place. Expect to do an under the hood recap,rectifier replacement and other items.
Using it for a TT? A tightly matched pair of NOS 12AX7s are serious coin. FM radio? An alignment probably.
Nice wood cabinet? Mo money.
You could find yourself in quite a few hundred bucks and that's if you can do the work yourself.
Before you make an offer ask the seller what he/she wants for it. Could be realistic,could be ridiculous.
