fisher 800c fm problem???????

I have a fisher 800c that has been recapped with a metal bone kit. The unit operates and sounds awesome except in fm stereo. the fm mono works well but the fm stereo seems to cut out most of the sound from the left channel what would cause this? The 3 resistors for the fm demphasis was addressed in the recap. I would appreciate any ideas and suggestions reguarding this issue. Thanks in advance Mike.:scratch2:

I would first check that the selector switch is not the culprit. Clean the contacts thoroughly to make sure that the left channel signal isn't being dropped at that point.

If cleaning the selector switch doesn't resolve the problem, then the problem must be in the MPX unit itself -- and particularly around V-102, which is where the identity of the two channels begins.

One tool you can use is to listen carefully to the right channel while in FM stereo. If it is still giving right channel information only when the left channel has cut out, then all indications are a lose connection or dirty selector switch in the left channel signal path. On the other hand, if the right channel goes to a common mono signal (both channels appearing at the right channel output) when the left channel cuts out, then there are likely bigger problems in the MPX chassis.

I hope this helps!

Dave
