Fisher BA-6000

What is everyone's thoughts on the Fisher BA-6000. The power chips are STK-0100 II. Seems like Sanyo however labeled as Studio Standard by Fisher. I believe Fisher sold to Sanyo around this time. I am wondering if these can me made into mono blocks or just eye candy at this point. The amplifier sounded good for years however I have modded Haflers and had Mcintosh. Belive it or not, the BA-6000 can hold its own if vented properly

i went thru a couple of these amps a few years ago. nice looking. ok-ish sounding

had em both pushing 170wpc+ into 4 ohm dummy loads.

don't really understand why they decided to use stk modules in these amps, doesn't seem like they cut any corners with the rest of the design... jfet diff pairs, 15,000uf main filter caps..large toroidal transformer...just seems like a waste.

the sound was pretty veiled to my ears.

not really sure how one would go about making them into monoblocks or why one would want to make monoblocks out of stks.

very good point. I am wondering if there is a way to rip out the stk and just redesign the audio output circuit and just use mosfets or something that is better caliber. I remember technics getting on the stk bandwagon
