Fisher console at Savers in Columbia Heights

PoppaSteve

Your what hurts?
Is it Columbia Heights? Anyway, its up on Central near 694.

Wife was at a job interview in downtown Minneapolis and I had some time to kill. So I went up to Savers.

Nice looking console with a Fisher Ventura or Futura or some such. Also had a Dual changer in it.

It may, MAY have been a tube unit. I'm not sure. I was just starting to check it out when the beloved llifemate calls and says she's ready to be picked up. And one does not keep her waiting when she hasn't had her coffee yet.

So that was about 9:30 Thursday morning. $19.95. Might have bought it myself, but I think it was a hair too big to fit in the old Blazer. Plus, I would have had to explain it to SWMBO.

It may have been a tube hybrid at best ('66 Futura w/ Dual 1009) or more likely 100% solid state ('69 Futura w/ Dual 4-Speed) but it wasn't an all tube model unless the turntable was a later replacement. The earlier Futuras had Garrard or Miracord turntables. How would you describe the cabinet style?

Went to look at console late this morning. Was still there. It was a solid state console with a Fisher 24R AM/FM tuner and a Dual 1015 Turntable. Very long console. Looks like it had a compartment for an add-on reel to reel player that wasn't there. Turntable has an issue with it. Idler wheel probably needs replacement. When turning platter by hand, there was a lot of chatter in the platter.
