Fisher Custom Electra VI - Dial Cord Question

I am restoring Fisher Custom Electra VI with 490T tuner and noticed there is a dial cord located on the knob side of chassis. The side with dial glass. one side is connected to a small spring in the upper left corner with about a 12 inch length of dial cord attached to it. The dial cord is not connected to anything. It is hanging loose. Does anyone know where that dial cord connected to and what it's purpose was?

The main dial cord is in tact and working fine. The dial pointer moves smoothly up and down the band.

Take off the Dial glass. The Free end of the dial pointer rides on a string stretched from one end of the faceplate to the other Parallel to the travel of the dial pointer.
 
Thanks again Larry ! Now I see the little hole on the right side of faceplate where the string goes through and was tied off. I was able to restring it without removing the dial glass and it works. I was afraid to remove the dial glass for fear of breaking it.
