I just picked up a Fisher e492-W. It’s my first Fisher and my first console (I have been a vintage Yamaha guy but wanted to try something “new”.) The receiver works (but I am going to have a tech look it over anyway.) My question is about the speakers.
- Are the front grills removable? They don’t appear to be removable and I don’t want to damage them trying. They are in perfect shape.
- Does anyone have any details about the tweeter, mid, driver and crossover? I am asking just in case I need to replace anything once I begin testing. If needed, are there new replacements that work well (parts express or somewhere else?) I want a relaxed warm sound (tube like) so it sounds very different from my vintage Yamaha/Klh set up.
- Are there any known issues that I should look out for?
- Is there a best way to clean the receiver face plate and knobs?
- Is there a fix to keep the top lid held open? I am guessing the hinges are shot. The old wooden ruler that holds it open adds character but my little kids will lose a finger if it slams shut on them.
- Don’t hate me for asking this! Has anyone hooked a streamer up to the receiver? It has a the aux input so I can hooks a WiiM (or other streamer) up to it.
