Looking at hoards likes this makes me wonder why. Did the guy just feel the need to keep everything? Did he somehow know all those old junk receivers would be worth a pretty penny in the future? Could he see the quality of new gear going down compared to these old tube units, and kept these for their good build quality?

Those used tube Fishers were sold dirt cheap in the 70's and 80's.

My next thought is always, what should I be buying cheap now and keeping for 30 years for resale?

I don't think AVR's are the answer. Lol. Maybe certain ones.

He must have obtained these back in the 80s and 90s because I have only seen one in all my audio travels in the last fifteen years.It was one needing a resto in a thrift auction case about two years ago.I have nor ever will buy to keep and hoard for down the road.
