Hi, i'm pretty new to hifi/audio in general. I sold 2 SL-1200s last year and have been thinking about what I want my new setup to be. I'm partial to vintage gear and I always loved the sound of my dad's tube amps growing up, so I'm leaning heavily towards starting with an integrated tube amp and then building out my setup from there. I plan on using my system almost exclusively for listening to vinyl, and specifically jazz. Should also mention that I'm hoping to spend under $1000 for the whole system, including TT, amp, and speakers (and any repairs necessary).
Someone locally is offering me a Fisher KX-100 for $200, but my guess is that there are probably some amount of issues with it because the seller doesn't know anything about it besides that he got it from his collector friend, and it's in "good" condition. He seems to have also powered it up without connecting to speakers or testing tubes, which makes me nervous. However, it does appear to be in good cosmetic condition (attached some pics, which are the only ones he had).
I also found a Scott LK-48 on ebay for $420 with shipping (https://www.ebay.com/itm/1-SCOTT-LK...-in-great-condition-recently-svc/193141740954), which seems more likely to be a plug and play unit because it's been serviced.

- Although i'd like to be able to test/repair gear myself, i have absolutely no experience and would be very hesitant to do so. Should I expect to spend a hefty amount on servicing/repairing/modding the Fisher to be usable and sound good as a daily amp (i'm located in the LA area, not sure if that changes expected costs)?
- Do you have any speaker recommendations for either of these amps or similar tube gear? I'm currently in a very small apartment space and so only have about 12" room on either side of my credenza for speakers. I found a nice condition pair of JBL Studio 570s for $200 on my local CL, but i wouldn't know where to start to assess whether these would match the kind of amp I want. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
