Fisher MT-6225 Turntable w/ Empire 2000 E/III Cartridge Restore? & What Stylus

Just picked up an old Fisher Mt-6225 Turntable with an Empire 2000 Cartridge, but it is missing the Stylus. On the label it reads Linear Motor 120 Pole Direct Drive MT-6225. This is a Fisher Studio Standard. It has variable speed controls for 45 and 33 records and is a changer.

1. Wondering if the Turntable will be worth restoring? It needs a lot of cleaning, the tone-arm is missing the counter-weight, it needs a new lid, and needs a new stylus for the Empire 2000 Cartridge.
2. What Stylus do you recommend as a replacement? This looks fairly high-end compared to anything I have previously owned.

I would like recommendations on the following if it is worth restoring.
  1. How to clean the turntable, rust on the platter and cleaning the inside?
  2. Where can I get a new counter-weight (if this is the correct term) for this model?
  3. What is a good/high end stylus for the Empire 2000 E/iii cartridge?
  4. Where should I look for a new lid - best pricing and reliable source?

Thanks for your input!

That's great, but the posts don't exactly address everything I'm asking. I'll do some more searching. Figured it would be much faster to list all of the specific questions and then hope for specific replies. Thanks for your input.

1. Still need info on the counterweight for the tone arm (possibly over-looked in recommended postings from MarkShan)
2. Lid recommendations?

Thank you.

The postings described the arm as an Acos model. I'm sure that anything that fits will be able to be properly balanced.

There is an eBay seller who has a pile of counterweights right now. I bet if you contact him you'll get one that works.
