Fisher rack system - a good buy?

Good morning from India. I have always been a fan of vintage HiFi... My dad introduced me to this world in the 70s. Am planning to get back into the madness, but am not very clued in to Fisher, as a brand. Specifically, I have been offered a whole rack system from 1987 for about Indian Rs 20,000 ( approx US $ 300).. Will post pics of the setup as well.
Components as follow:
AD 812 CD player
MT 854 turntable
SM 854 Tuner
CA 854 Integrated amp
CRW 854/twin cassette player

All this in an original Fisher rack, and with the remote. The system looks relatively well preserved, and the remote is functional as well.

Is it worth a buy?

I already have a set of Sansui S-E710 speakers, rated for 110w @ 6 ohms

Though this isn't a Sansui forum, would he glad for any info on these speakers as well from the 'gurus' here!

Alternatively, I can buy just the one integrated amplifier for the cost of the Fisher rack for about 50 dollars more... A Sansui AU-Alpha 607 Extra from '84.

Totally confused now and would like to buy right.

Thanks a ton!
Param

Agreed. There are good Fisher systems out there, but I don't think this is one of them. For that kind of money, keep searching. I've come across bits and pieces of 80s Fisher rack systems, and I haven't been impressed with them. But that seems to be across brands. Pioneer made some pretty crappy rack systems as well in the day, as did Sansui, etc.

If you can find a Fisher CA-800 based system, the amp is at least somewhat worthy of consideration. But still, not for that price.

Good luck and welcome to AK!

Thank you both, Gladiator and HiFi in Wyo! And thanks for the welcome as well!!! It is just that some pretty good Sansui and Nakamichi bits were stolen during a house shift... And my rapidly purchased Denon X500 AV receiver is proving reticent to fill the void... Sigh!
