FISHER REPAIR HELP

Recently tried to get my dad's old Corwin Vega speakers playing again, I know the speakers work, they're being run off a fisher ca-9025. when I turn the stereo on with the remote I stays on for 10-45 seconds and the turns itself off. during that time it won't allow me to select any audio inputs or us any controls, from the stereo itself or the remote. Any suggestions? I have picked up a cheap $20 stereo receiver for the meantime but the sound quality is crap and I'm hoping I won't have to throw this out, but I have no experience with home audio or repairing. if anyone can point me where to start would be a huge help! thanks20210216_103654.jpg 20210216_103627.jpg

That Fisher model CA-9025 sells at the top end for about $100, meaning that it's not worth repairing. I'm guessing the CA is for Canada, and that being why the writing on the back is bilingual.

Just about any integrated amplifier or receiver of a decent make should be able to do the job. Check the power rating of the speakers, and make sure the receiver can drive them.
 
I’d unplug it and pop the top. See if anything looks out of order. If there are ribbon cables going to various places carefully undo them and re-seat. They’ll sometimes lose connection and cause weird issues.

Nah, most later integrated amps from Fisher had model numbers starting with CA. Most electronics have the same models for the US and Canadian markets since their power systems are the same and regulations are similar.

While the amp is on, do you get any sound out of the speakers? Do you hear any sort of click from the amp between the time you turn it on and the time it goes off?
 
Have you tried turning it on not using the remote?
Does it still cut out shortly afterward?
Do you have the owners manual? It seems those are not real common (the manual).
