Fisher RS-2010

I just sent a MO for the receiver this morning. Will post pics when it comes in.

I have had a couple of BA-6000 amps from Fisher that I was happy with, so I am interested in getting this receiver. I know it's no RS-2015 or RS-1060/1080, but it should provide a nice little boost of power over my current Toshiba SA-775 in my office.

Is that the $25.00 one on Craigslist Los Angeles?

That is correct. He was willing to ship which is somewhat unusual. Sending it double boxed via fedex for 35.00. He seemed to think that was going to be a problem with the price of the receiver being less. I happily sent payment this morning. :)

Good job! He gave you a big break on the shipping. FedEx usually charges $20.00 for double boxing etc. so $15 from CA to MI is CHEAP!! This Seller is obviously not much of a businessman.......he'd give away the store!

how hard is it to change out the lights on a fisher receiver ?????? i have my eye on one fairly local

Most of the Fishers just take standard fuse lamps. Depending on the model some are hard to change, but it can still be done.

As far as the 2010, the biggest thing with them is the STK packs failing. My personal advice would be to put some new heatsink compound between them and the heatsink. It's not terribly difficult to do. Make sure they don't get too hot.

Fisher RS-2010 bulbs, from the service manual:
* four of these: (wattmeter , tuner meter, dial lamps(2))
8V , 300mA : "Wedge Style"

* 13 of these: (small indicator lamps- function indicator, speaker selec ,etc)
8V, 60mA

* one of these: (stereo indicator)
6V, 30mA
---
On my RS2010, I replaced one of the tuning meter bulbs. This is a "wedge base lamp".
I used an 8V 250ma bulb from Vintage Electronics:

It works fine, and was an easy operation, since these bulbs are easily accessible.

The small indicator bulbs may be a bit more difficult to get at, I don't know.

The RS2010 was my first vintage receiver, and is still one of my favorites!

Ah yes, my bad I was thinking of the 10XX series out of habit. Last of which I worked on was a 1015. Been a while since I fixed the 2010 but I still won't forget that that thermal grease behind the STKs was pretty dried up.
