Fisher SA-1000 service recommendations?

Good morning! I just picked up an SA-1000 and a 400-CX-2 at the Schulman auction that was online recently. [Yes, I was that bonehead that overbid]. Anyway, both units are in good physical shape but obviously sat for years in a pretty sizable Fisher collection. I’m assuming an old fellow passed and his kids threw up their hands and called an auction house. Anyway, although they are listed as having been tested and within spec, I’m a cynic. Any suggestions on who I might send these to for service? I’m in Colorado but they’re being shipped from the auction already so location is less important. Thanks!

Great amplifier~! Owned one for many years.

As I remember they are only rated at 40 watts, But sound like 200!

Be sure to buy some extra 8417's, Yeah good luck. Don't worry these tubes last Forever!

Ran my Magnapan Tympani III's like a dream.

Oof my neighbors hated them as they shook the entire apartment building.

Always was enamored with that tube preamp, and if I ever found one at a reasonable price I might pick one up. but I already have a number of nice tube preamps and I don't know if the Fisher would be any better for the money.

Check out my Fisher 60a's.

Direct heat push pull parallel 6B4's for 60 watts rms...

All the early Fisher power amplifiers use driver transformers for superb sound.

You also might want to pop into the dedicated Fisher sub forum here at AK, where all the Fisher enthusiasts hang out. They might be able to point you in the right direction with regards to repair services in your neck of the woods

I bid on a few items in that, but got beat out. That was a really weird collection. Which 400-CX-2 did you get? The one with the good faceplate, or the good chassis?

I got the one with the better chassis. No logic to my decision other than when the smoke settled, I was the high bidder on that one. I bid on both. I believe I may have been at a happy hour at the time.

I was scratching my head a bit trying to figure out why the previous owner didn’t swap the faceplates and make one REALLY nice 400-CX-2. Same with the 80C and 90C preamps. Why have three nice 80Cs, one nice 90C, and one ugly 90C? Use one of the 80Cs to supply knobs and tube shields to the ugly 90C and have a good pair of both.

Enjoy your new killer Fisher setup!
