Fisher SA-300 restoration questions...

just got one of these farm fresh, so a rebuild is in order. A few questions I have are 1) the brown WIMA caps in there, some look like they are cracking, should these all be replaced? Are they a problematic part in these old SA-300's? And for the PS rebuild, will EFB work in this amp? I'm guessing it is applicable, what do you think, Dave? thanks

Short of the X-1000 the SA-300 was FISHER's TOTL Stereo straight amp of the time. One thing is for sure, it's a hell of a lot less complicated than the X-202 (any version). Without having all the preamp circuitry it'll probably sound a lot clearer, and less stressed than any of the integrated.
 
I'm not familiar with the X-1000 but as you can see, the SA300 is built like a muscle car. There are two schematics out there, one by SAMS and the other can be found on the Fisher Console website (it's in the thread I posted earlier). The SAMS schematic has a glaring error on the bias circuit, two of the resistor values are switched. It's mentioned in the other thread.

another question on this is the two 'lytics mounted on the side of the chassis noted as C5 & C6, they are marked 10 ufd @ 160 vdc and are part of the bias circuit and provide 30 vdc at the top of diode M1 and -25 vdc at the bias adjust wiper R7. That voltage rating seems a bit overkill, can I use a lower voltage cap, such as 100vdc?
