Fisher Speakers

I just got a pair of STV-875's in a moving sale, in great shape.... BUT WHAT JUNK ! A total shock compared to my Fisher ST-830 & 840's which are killer tweeters and sound pressure. I figured something with the same manufacturer, identical-looking woofer, identical-looking tweeters would be of comparible quality, but that's not the case in the slightest.

Now I understand why Fisher speakers gets such a bad rap on this forum---apparently, Fisher changed hats quite often with their suppliers back in the 80's/90's. I'd swear these STV-875's are NO better than a Jensen speaker--probably supplied Fisher with it too. Diss the STV series...Tawaiin junk.

There's just no substitute for the older ST-830 & 840's I suppose--best Fisher model there ever could be, and I've now tried them all from a 828 on up.

You must mean modern era Jensens post mid 70's. The older Jensens are far from junk. The Imperial line is still a fantastic speaker as are the ones pictured below

I have a 4-channel system and use Jensen Model 6 for the front channels and Jensen Model 4 for the rear channels. Great bass and clear mid and highs. In another room, I use 4 Corral BX-multi 1200E speakers. I cannot complain about either.
 
I had a pair of The Fisher 105s from the 70s that were well made and sounded pretty good. Definitely had a 70s look with the plastic grill over the cloth. The highs rolled off a little, but overall a decent speaker.

The Jensen era Advents weren't bad speakers - they actually sound OK and can be had for peanuts.
