Hello folks,
I am thinking of new caps for these Fisher ST-750 speakers. They sound good to me as they are, but I have read that these older speakers improve with new caps. I think I would like to try new caps for the experience if nothing else. Of course I hope to achieve something in listening as well.
I have the schematic and it says the following:
15uF 70v NP Part Number CE80203-8
2.2uF 70v NP Part Number CE80203-2

Parts express shows 15uF-250V dc Poly Pro and
2.2uF-250V dc Poly Pro

Are these values okay to use? My thought is that using 250v vs. 70 would be okay since it is not less than.

Do you think that there is any gain to be had from doing this exercise?

Hello folks,

I have done some looking around, and I find that it is okay to use 250v as a replacement for the original spec'd at 70 v. 250v is common today.

I am guessing that the NP means no polarity.

We'll see if there is an audio difference to my unsophisticated ears.

If I can get through this I only have 4 or 5 sets of different speakers that probably need the same update!!
