Finally took the plunge on a Fisher, picked up a 600 receiver from amsoilman this afternoon. Spent some time admiring his wall of Altecs.

22 tubes and one honkin' PS!

While I poke around this thing anyone know if the 400 and 600 used the same cabinet?

Nice receiver, congrats!

The 400, 500, 800 receivers are all taller than the 600, so the cabinets are not interchangeable.

The TA 600 has four 7189 output tubes TA stands for tuner/amp. For some reason, I thought there was a mono 600 like the mono 500. Perhaps there isn't. I know the TA 600 well, as I just refurbished one.

There seems to be some differences based on serial numbers.

Some were marked differently (as well as differences by serial number). For example some have "Tuner Amplifier" and "The 600" on the front whereas mine just says "Premiere" (possibly from a console) - but it does say TA-600 on the PS tranny.

Got it. I had read somewhere that "premiere" means it came from a console. My said TA 600. I no longer own it.

My 600 came with this cabinet:

Work work work, lol. ;) I run mine out of the cab, for better ventilation.

The micro ray tuning indicator looks verry kool.

How does it work ?

Is it some sort of tube like a round tuning eye ?

Hi, That looks exactly like a 600-S that I did a cabinet for a guy in Spain (its shown on my website). Fisher did things like that, my 800-C is not labeled as such on the front , simply "Executive", then when you look at the serial number section it lists it as 800-C. Yours is a beautiful receiver, I have been looking for that model for some time. You lucky guy.
