Fisher - The 600

Hi, That looks exactly like a 600-S that I did a cabinet for a guy in Spain (its shown on my website). Fisher did things like that, my 800-C is not labeled as such on the front , simply "Executive", then when you look at the serial number section it lists it as 800-C. Yours is a beautiful receiver, I have been looking for that model for some time. You lucky guy.

You mean a 500-S? I don't think a 600-S exists. If it does, I sure would like to see some photos of it. I have a 500-s and it does look a lot like a 600 and they share the same dimensions and output tubes. However, there are some serious differences in their electronic design. The 500-S is much closer to the later Fishers 500 B/C and 800 B/C.

No MPX on board, has a rather confusing TUNER and MPX
on the selector, the latter of which is a set of
inputs for the outboard MPX.

Betcha the Fisher MPX adaptor will go for more than the receiver.

There's an A and B output labed FM and MPX respectively, and MPX A and B level pots on the rear - what's all that about?

Fisher MPX adapters come up for sale on E-Bay all the time. You can also build a solid state one with a kit sold online.

I've got several including an MX-99 and a SS homebrew using Bob Firzgerald's MPX board, but I do like to try to pair up the 'right' gear when possible.

Heh, looks like our trannies at least, might easily have been made in the same batch. I dunno how big a batch was then, but a couple dozen doesn't sound unreasonable. :scratch2:
