The "B" has a Blend control (which is a useless control for most (99.99999&4/100%) of the time). C&D don't have it. Plate, screen, & Bias voltages are different in all of them. They all use the 7591 output tube. The "B" is Tube rectified (GZ-34/5AR4) while the C&D are Solid state rectified. The "C" is the best looking in a mid 60's way. The "D" front plate and controls show FISHER's switch over from Tube to S.S. I've got a "B" and love it. It's been rebuilt to stock spec.

Hey Larry thanks for posting. Is the power output the same in all versions?
From a pure performance standpoint, the X-101D is the best unit because it has the best and biggest output transformers used in the X-101 series, being the same as those used in the 500C/800C receivers.

Specifically, replacing the diodes in the voltage doubler circuit. All the pics and posts I've seen have a cap situated between the 2 diodes.
A bumblebee type cap I think is the correct nomenclature. But, my amp does not have one of these. Should I just replace the 2 diodes and not worry about any
capacitor(s), if any, associated with this piece of circuitry? Help from anybody would be muchly appreciated.

As for the cap. The 10001-19999 series units had no cap. The 20001-29999 series DID have a .01uf 400v film (bumblebee) cap. It won't hurt anything if you DID install a cap, but for a historically correct unit, leave it out.

Note the numbering scheme in the lower right corner. AW 2067 "A" is the 10001-19999 series X-101-C

Note: This is NOT a death cap. That would go on the primary side of the transformer (if it had one in the 1st place).
