Recycle belly button lint!
Just got back from a week long trip to a river and lake in the Canadian Rockies. They're in the East Kootenays near Cranbrook.
Stayed in a cabin that's 42 kilometers up the Bull River Road, which is an active logging road for the first 35 km..
At km. 66 there's a beauty of a lake called Summer Lake. It's a bit unusual in that it has several creeks going in but none going out. It drains slowly out of the bottom and eventually into Galbraith Creek which meets the Bull River close to the cabins.
Would have liked to fish the river but you need a special license and since I'm no longer a BC resident it is quite expensive. BC stands for 'bring cash'.
Caught several West Slope Cut Throat Trout the first day at the lake, from shore. Apparently there are some 6 pounders but you'd need a boat with an electric motor to troll for them, could do it in a canoe but ...
Caught most of them on a favorite lure of mine, a Luhr Jensen Bolo. I do fly fish but like tackle fishing as much, no purist
Cheers
