Fix for missing or broken am antennas?

nadude98

7MGTE Power!
Does anyone have any suggestions on replacements or fixes for broken or missing am antennas. I bought a couple of receivers that have broken am antennas and would like to find a replacement that will work as I can't find any actual replacements. The receivers are an Onkyo TX-5000 and a Fisher RS-2002.

Cheers,
Jim

As you are probably aware, the typical AM loopstick has multiple coils wound on a ferrite core (usually adjustable) so that it comprises a matching transformer. Knowing the inductance required to match the tuner circuit is critical, and those specifications are often not provided in manuals.

Obviously, an original replacement would be easiest. Lacking that, experimentation and some careful consideration of the ratios in the tuner could be necessary.
