Flickering Marantz 250 Bulbs

I think this might be notorious for this older model Marantz 250. The meter bulbs are constantly flickering. I've cleaned the sockets with de-ox but does not help much. Does anyone have any tips? Or maybe an LED conversation?

Do you hear any crackling coming from the power switch? Does the unit work well otherwise?

An arcing power switch could cause flickering lights.

Flickering lamps in a 250 is a very common misbehavior og relates to bad contact between the lamp socket and the lamp itself. The only way to fix that is to make sure there is good contact - so cleaning - as you did already and tight fit is the way to go - if you want to keep the lighting original. I have 5 x 250's and all of them , at some point have shown that phenomenon. I did the recommended stuff and it fixed the problems. BUT - still they are able to exhibit the flickering after a while and here we go again. The 250 is a great amp, but that lamp-flickering can be a PITA.
If it is a bad powerswitch - all the lamps should flicker simultaniously. Could be, off course, but i doubt.

Btw: A stock 250 has no powerswitch - it can be switched through the pre-amp og directly from the wall.

I would make sure the bulbs are clamped in the bulb holders tightly. They have a tendency to widen which makes poor contact.

You can check by seeing how freely the bulb moves within the holder. If so, take them out and gently crush them together
