Flipped over my speakers.....WOW!

Hi NY, the barrel speakers are in a tiki bar in northern Michigan and are rocking away. I am tri amping the IMPs with the 300B on the midhorn, an Adcom on the woofs, and a Tripath class D on the tweets, all running through a passive crossover. They are sounding great. Cheers.

Hi Fool, I am just gathering parts. I have the materials for the plinth, platter, and some of the tonearm. I have a motor and have designed a bearing. Because of work, I won't be able to do anything for another month or so. Cheers.

Very interesting! I look forward to fooling around with cabinets like that some day. So far, all of mine are ported or acoustic suspension.

BTW, I'll swap you!

:D

The difference is night and day when I put the woof up high. I am still amazed at the sound they now produce. I have had many large speakers in my room over the years and to my ear, these are the best sounding yet. Cheers.

So, is your cabinet design known as a folded horn? Also, I have seen some design where the driver is oriented downward or towards the back of the cabinet, firing into the horn chamber.

Yes, it is a folded horn with a front firing woof. The back chamber and folded horn brings up the HZs under 50. I can hear tones down to 25hz just as loud as the 50s coming out the front. Cheers.
