Floor Standing Speaker Recommendation

i would go with some kef speakers,i have been using my kef based transmission lines for years and have not found any thing that compares,
my ones were made for or by nzbc in the early 70s, the drivers are very repairable if you find a set that has had a hard life ,the imageing is off the chart , the bass is not boomy but super punchy and tight ,
they are very big , so thats one down fall for some ,
for me i like to show off my gear so big is good lol
please do consider some ,
another set that comes to mind if you want some that sounds great and do not have the large foot prints is the b and w dm2a

I've been Rocking my DCM TF600'S for over fifteen years now. Many speakers have come and gone. These are just Damn good speakers with a large sound stage and good imaging. They are fairly easy to drive, have rubber surrounds, rear firing tweeters are prone to fry but are very easily replaced on the cheap. 70 wpc will make them sing nicely.
They can be bought for under $200. I use a Subwoofer to take some low end strain off the amp and it gives me plenty of headroom. Good luck in your search.

There's also a pair of ADS L1230's on BT, in Greenville, for not much more. They may be a little large for the OP's room, but that wouldn't stop me from buying them. If only I were closer.

You would be hard pressed to find even beat up Kef 104.2 in your price range .

It is possible though. I paid $300 for mine. Not pristine mind you, but not beat up either. But you're right, they usually go for much more (and worth every penny ).

I'm another proud owner of the TF600. It does everything really well. Like David said, it will not cost you too much.
