I just installed the FM Indoor Dipole Stereo/HD Antenna with Fine Tuning from http://www.fmdxantenna.com and it is awesome. I run a rack of SAE gear in my office. It has always been tough to get good reception in this metal and concrete building. I have tried everything from a piece of wire to an amplified antenna. None of these have worked consistently. I would get stations that would fade in and out or have a lot of white noise. Being able to fine tune this dipole makes all the difference in the world. I now have crisp clean clear music from my local college station that plays jazz all day. I'm loving it.

It is a full size antenna that is resonant (the correct length) for the frequency(s) of interest.

It is hard to beat that type of antenna for a simple easy to use antenna.

Of course, as with all antennas, it is location, location, location. The performance of any antenna is dependent upon the RF signal strength that the antenna sees.
 
but pretty much any rabbit ear should be adjustable to resonance, yes?

Yes, but often they feed the dipole elements with 300 Ohm feed line. Although the feed line mismatch loss is not great, at times every little bit of signal counts and if that antenna provides RF decoupling (common mode) of the antenna and the feed line, that can also help the performance.

And by adjusting the length of the elements, so that they are not exactly the same length and the angle of the elements, one can cause the antenna to have various peaks and nodes in the reception pattern.

These peaks and nodes may be used to aim the antenna's pattern toward the station(s) of interest and or null out interfering signals and noise.
 
I have an Archer / Radio Shack 15-1823 rabbit ears FM antenna with phasing control and it would be interesting to see how this compares with the fmdxantenna rabbit ears. Some antennas have a tuning control using a tuned L-C circuit which may be more or less useful under certain circumstances - having to retune the antenna separately from the tuner is something that can't be done from a remote and may have an adverse effect on impedance matching.
 
It is a great antenna, I used to have one (since moved on to a different unit), but it gave excellent reception.
